Finding not searching

One of my favourite books Siddartha by Hermann Hesse has a quote I love,
“When someone seeks,” said Siddhartha, “then it easily happens that his eyes see only the thing that he seeks, and he is able to find nothing, to take in nothing because he always thinks only about the thing he is seeking, because he has one goal, because he is obsessed with his goal. Seeking means: having a goal. But finding means: being free, being open…”

For me this quote means when we are so focused on the seeking we have no time for the finding.

If we focus most on what is found, what already is, what we are grateful for, what is here with us now, if we widen our gaze beyond the hook of the search, then we are no longer searching. Finding is the new focus.

Our eyes find treasure in now
And we become part of our findings
Because we are open to the present

So if you are searching
See what is already found
And maybe you will become found
By what you were searching for

Prehaps one of the points of life is to grow stronger than the feeling of being lost,
Each time getting a little better at finding our way,
Then the way becomes more clear
As you are not searching for it
Because you see what is already found
And you use that to lead the way
Acknoweldging what is here
Being thankful for it
Being present with it
However small, or whatever that is
And stepping with what is here
Using that as the point
That moves you along…

Here is a sunflower I was given today, a present in the present.
